The location is stunning as are the views. However this is where the good ends. We had to wait to be seated despite having booked a table, we then had to wait a further five minutes to order drinks which then took a further fifteen minutes to arrive. The staff seemed ill educated on their wine list. When the drinks arrived we ordered starters and mains. The starters took another fifteen minutes to arrive, bearing in mind they were bread and olives, neither were anything special when they eventually arrived. An hour later our mains arrived. We had ordered king prawn and devon crab linguine and roasted cauliflower, northern Indian spices, summer grain salad. The linguine would probably have been quite nice if it had been hot, sadly it was not. The cauliflower was confused or misleading, salad suggests that there would be salad leaves. There was not. This dish was more akin to half a jar of supermarket own label curry sauce, which the cook had failed to microwave to anything near got, with some very sorry cauliflower which appeared to have been on the recieving end of the gas ring and some grains which came out of a microwave packet. Overall the service was poor the food was cold and I would not recommend. Given the waitress' response when we complained, this is not an uncommon experience.

We did not stay at the hotel, but we did eat at this location. If you want something a little different to the normal pub grub then try this place as the menu has some interesting choices. Well cooked, good tasting food with friendly staff. Dog friendly, good views of the ocean, definately worth a try

The service was absolutely terrible. They were nice but I think understaffed. Food took an hour and one plate arrived after another 20 mins. They were apologetic. Also halfway through meal very loud band started playing covers in next room so we could barely talk. Food was at best average. We won't return. Maybe it was just a bad night. They didn't charge for very late meal.

We visited Inn On The Shore, Downderry and were served by Mel on more than one occasion. She was so friendly, warm and welcoming that we found ourselves coming back every day! Highly recommend the brioche breakfast sausage rolls with a latte — absolutely delicious. The views are stunning, and there’s something really comforting about enjoying lovely food on a brisk spring morning overlooking the shore. A real bonus for us was that dogs are welcome too, which made it even more special. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be back!
